Reading room service

Service that allows internal and external users to consult bibliographic material, such as books and documents, within the library's facilities, without borrowing them for external use.

Conditions:

  • The service is personal and non-transferable.
  • Internal users must identify themselves with their ID card. As an exception, they may present their ID if they do not have the card.
  • External users must identify themselves upon entering the library (ID, alumni card, or other valid document).

Material available for consultation:

  • Books and reference books from the general collection.
  • Magazines.
  • Theses and research papers. (*)
  • Market reports and studies. (*)

(*) Access and use of these materials are subject to restrictions according to the library's regulations and the type of user.

Procedure:

  1. Identify the material you wish to consult through the online catalog
  2. Locate the material on the open shelf.
  3. At the end of your consultation of books and/or magazines, please place them in the return carts located next to the shelves.
  4. If the material has restricted access, the user must request it from the Circulation Desk.
  5. At the end of the consultation, you must return it directly to the library staff.

If the user requires assistance to carry out the indicated procedures, they can go to the service module and request assistance from the service personnel.

 

Home loan service

Service that allows internal users to borrow bibliographic material, such as books and documents, for consultation outside the library for a specified period.
Home lending is subject to the maximum number of volumes and the loan period established for each type of user.

Conditions: 

  • The service is personal and non-transferable.
  • Internal users identify themselves with their ID card; exceptionally, they may present their national ID.
  • During the exam week for undergraduate programs, the loan period at the Undergraduate Library is reduced to one (1) day.
  • The Undergraduate Library applies loan restrictions only to the first copies of texts considered mandatory reading.
  • The home loan period for literary works is seven (7) days for all users.
  • The quantity of materials and the duration of the loan depend on the permissions assigned to each user in each library. For more details, please refer to the corresponding table.

Procedure:

  1. Identify the bibliographic material you wish to request through the online catalog
  2. Locate the material on the open shelf.
  3. Approach the Circulation Desk with your institutional card and present the material you wish to borrow.
  4. The staff will validate the permission, register the loan, and return the material, indicating the corresponding deadline.

From the Home loan service, the complementary Services of renewal and reservation of bibliographic material also derive, directed exclusively to the internal users of the institution.

Bibliographic material renewal service

Service that allows extending the loan period of books and documents. The renewal can be done autonomously or with the assistance of the staff in the Circulation Desk.

Conditions:

  • The service is personal and non-transferable.

  • The material cannot be renewed if the copy has been reserved by another user.

  • Renewals are not allowed once the loan period has expired.

  • For in-person renewal, the user must request assistance from the staff in the Circulation Desk during the library's service hours.

  • Each copy can be renewed up to a maximum of two times. However, the staff of the Circulation Desk may, exceptionally, extend or reduce the number or period of renewals according to the demand for the material.

Bibliographic material reservation service

Service that allows you to reserve books and documents that are currently on loan. The reservation can be made independently or with the support of the staff in the Circulation Desk.

Conditions:

  • The service is personal and non-transferable.
  • The number of permitted reservations is subject to the maximum limit of copies authorized for home loan.
  • Users with active sanctions will not be able to access this service until they are lifted.
  • When the reserved material is available, the user will be notified by email, indicating the library (Undergraduate Library or Graduate Library), the date, and the deadline for pickup, which will generally be the next business day within the library's operating hours.
  • To make a reservation in person or cancel a reservation, the user must request assistance from the staff at the Circulation Desk during the corresponding library's hours of operation.
